Brussels 24.2.2022 - PRESS RELEASE - Russia/Ukraine: Peace is the only solution! Protect conscientious objectors and all civilians.

The European Bureau for Conscientious Objection (EBCO) strongly condemns the Russian invasion in Ukraine this morning and calls all parties to strictly adhere to international humanitarian law and international human rights law, including the right to conscientious objection to military service, and to protect civilians, including internally displaced persons and refugees. EBCO urges to end the war with an immediate ceasefire leaving space for negotiation and diplomacy.

Brussels - 3.10.2021 - EBCO solidarity action in Brussels at the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union.

With the opportunity of October 2nd, International Non-Violence Day, EBCO organised an action in solidarity with Ukrainian conscientious objector and journalist Ruslan Kotsaba, at the Mission of Ukraine to the European Union in Brussels, calling Ukraine to immediately stop the prosecution of pacifist Ruslan Kotsaba.

Ukrainian conscientious objector and journalist Ruslan Kotsaba will be on trial again on September 20th. Support Kotsaba with your actions ahead of his trial!

Kotsaba, president of the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement, is accused of treason and obstructing military operations for his expressions calling for peace in a video he posted in 2015. In the video, Kotsaba was calling to boycott military mobilisation for the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

On 25 June 2021 the President of the Ukrainian Pacifist Movement Ruslan Kotsaba was attacked by a neo-Nazi gang at the Ivano-Frankivsk railway station. Later he underwent surgery to save his sight due to a burn in his retina with the chemical brilliant green or "zelenka".
